SEO Case: Site promotion in the PHARMA niche, in Tier-1

ℹ️ Introduction


Today, we have written our first SEO case study, in which we achieved significant website promotion results in a fairly competitive pharma niche.

Our company, NeedMyLink, initially focused on Complex Link Building, but due to the potential for external development, we began to take small steps into client SEO promotion. 🔻 Return the keywords positions for the main product categories that have slipped due to the Core Google update in November 2023. At the lowest point, the amount of traffic dropped by 70%;

🔻 Increase the conversion rate of organic traffic;

🔻 Increase the number of quality referring domains in the link profile.

✅ Achieved goals:
✔️ A few days before the Core Update August 2024 started, the site showed rapid growth in all metrics. As a result, we returned the previous traffic volume of 70% and increased by another 15%.

✔️ The positions of the main commercial queries show steady growth. Some managed to gain a foothold in the TOP-2. And these are very competitive keywords.

✔️ A fourfold increase in the conversion rate from organic visitors from 4% to 16%. In general, due to the growth of search traffic for the main key queries, improved navigation within the site, and the introduction of additional blocks that will enhance user engagement.

✔️ Cleaned and improved the reference profile by adding more than 400 domains of various types of backlinks.

Our first customer who used our SEO promotion service is a regular customer from Complex Link Building. The links we set for our client were selected strictly according to the client’s requirements. We made some changes to the client’s requirements to improve the quality of selection and the effect of backlinks. Generally, the requirements for a project in a gray niche are the usual ones: nothing out of the ordinary.

The client performed all the technical tasks on the site on his own. After detailed discussions, we realized that it would be worth helping the site achieve results in the search results. 🔧 1. Based on the analysis of the project and niche, we identified the points of growth of search traffic and developed a strategy to achieve the goals

We found out that the main problems that limited the growth of search traffic were

  • non-compliance with E-E-A-T factors

🔧 2. Developed and implemented project optimization recommendations per the official Google Assessor’s Guide to Determining Website Quality with E-E-A-T. Even though the niche is gray, these factors remain effective.

🔧 3. For the site’s key pages, the main page, product category pages, and landing pages, we collected large clusters of search queries and organically integrated them into the existing content.

🔧 4. Page layouts have been worked out. New blocks related to navigation, categories, similar products, and reviews have been added. Additional text blocks have been added to increase relevance.

🔧 5. A link-building strategy has been developed using several types of backlinks: guest posts, crowd, and link-building. The main focus was on promoting commercial keywords using an individual anchor text strategy.

The client had its own PPC network, for which we conducted an audit. We provided recommendations on the anchor list, identified ineffective platforms, and removed links from them.

❗️ The importance of link building in a niche
After a few months of link building, the most difficult obstacle for this SEO case was the limited number of sites for pharma niche.

Since many sites refused to accept gray niche links, the pool of donors was shrinking too much. On the other hand, we could not lower the donor requirements. Therefore, we involved more specialists in the project, and more than 10 people worked on this project at the same time. Thanks to this, we have achieved constant replenishment of donors every month.

In addition, all the sites we provided for our client came in a custom selection, in which you could filter all metrics. We also kept the sites that we had selected earlier if needed.

We want to add that our link-building processes are as transparent as possible so the client can see where the links are placed and the price per donor. After all, we follow the rule that every dollar should be spent wisely.
